May 2008

Dear Customers,

May is here already and graduation time is approaching. Most tracks are up and running. The smell of burning rubber and Alcohol now fill the air. Racing season is really here!

Winter has departed and we are left with memories of unbelievably high fuel and electric bills. Fortunately we had a pretty mild winter this year. Lord knows what kind of financial disasters may have occurred if we’d had an unusually severe winter season. This combined with ever increasing gasoline prices will cause serious problems for all of us. Finally we have seen the American public decrease their fuel consumption a bit. Hopefully this will slow the price rise a little. I am sure we will all be rethinking our budgets for 2008.

    • Summer hours

Don’t forget our new Friday hours. Beginning May 23rd we will close at 2:00 pm on Fridays. Be sure that you notify your people that need to know this. We work a few extra hours other days to compensate for the lost time.

Harriett and I recently made a trip to Connecticut to deliver some custom made vintage Chris Craft cams. We visited several customers along the way and had great time. The weather was great and much of the scenery reminded us of the North Carolina Mountains. We also picked up several great tech tips that we will share on our web site with pictures soon. Many thanks for the hospitality extended to us by everyone we encountered.

    • ZDDPluss

Sales of ZDD+ have been very good. ZDD+ has the proper combination of Zinc and Phosphorus to give the scuff protection equivalent to the old SF oil (Zinc alone doesn’t do it) while retaining the improved quality of the newer oils. Remember the ZDDP level has been significantly reduced in ALL oils intended for highway use including the diesel oils. Even many of the old additives like the recently reintroduced General Motors EOS have less Zinc than they used to. It should be part of every oil change in all flat tappet engines and of course is critical in flat tappet race applications. Don’t be sidelined by a flat cam. Order yours today. We have it in stock, ready to ship in convenient 6 packs and 12 packs. Be on the lookout for some new technical bulletins on ZDDP on our web site soon.

    • Lifter polishing.

Our lifter polishing is going very well. We are winding up with a finish of 2-3 ra. That compares with a typical finish of 9-22 ra found on most new lifters. The smoother finish reduces friction and resists wear. As a special introductory offer we will have a special price on our direct oiling lifters with polished faces of $50.00 above the regular lifter price. This special will run through the end of June. Many places are getting $100.00 for this process. Don’t miss this opportunity. Order your lifters today.

We are excited to be working with the owners Jon and Lauronda Teeple to update our presence on the web. Be sure to check our site out as it evolves. There will be new tech tips and articles in the next few months.
