Dear Customers, It is hard to believe we have had no newsletters since August of last year. We have been working toward a move to the Asheville, North Carolina area since last March. I am writing this from our new home & shop in Arden, NC. What an experience we have been through to get here. Even with a good credit score we had a horrible time getting financing during the housing credit crunch last summer. All of the lenders we approached said, "If this was 3 or 4 months ago we would have been falling all over ourselves to give you money". Negations with the seller were difficult as well. Thank heavens for Melissa Sites at Realty World. Without her help & guidance we would never have gotten here. Moving the shop was easily two or three times the task I anticipated. There were 4 tractor trailer loads + we hauled 6 or 8 loads in a 24 ft trailer We brought the 1st grinder down when we settled on the property the end of September. David came down the middle of October to start getting the space organized and ready to work. He did a great job but it was still the 1st of the year before we were really up and running. Even then we were still not very well organized. Things are much improved now and production is approaching normal. March 27th; we just returned from Easton where we finally got our furniture loaded in a moving van. It should be here between 7:00 and 7:30 AM tomorrow morning. We brought back a 12 ft U-Haul trailer full of boxes and a pickup load of miscellaneous garden tools, cam racks, etc. We were lucky enough to have several friends help us out for two days getting loose stuff & clothes packed while the movers loaded the furniture. We finally headed south about 7:00 pm Thursday evening so we could get our trailer unloaded and returned thus saving another day's rental and be ready for the moving van tomorrow. Saturday will be a big day in Arden. The Reichards will finally have furniture. Old twin beds just don't cut it when you are used to a queen sized Temper-Pedic mattress. March 28th the movers arrived at 7:00am exactly when they said they would. Our daughter Victoria and several friends were on hand to help and the movers were headed back to MD by 11:00. We spent the rest of the day organizing the house. There is still lots to do but at least almost everything is here and we don't have any pressure to get the few little things left at the house in Easton till we have tenants or a buyer. New lobe designs We have some new lobe designs. They are mechanical lifter profiles with 24 degrees of major intensity. They have the same opening ramp as the SXTL with a slightly modified XTL closing ramp. Initial dyno testing is very promising. So far most sales have been up North and racing hasn't started there yet. We have a customer in TN who had good results in NASCAR LMS and he ordered more. These profiles make excellent torque numbers. And will not beat up the valve train. So far I have done 240, 242, & 244 degrees duration @.050 with .333 lobe lift. I will do some higher lobe lifts and more duration in the near future. We also have a new addition to our 1" lifter profiles. These profiles have been very successful in antique tractor pulling and in the Cummins 6BT engines for street performance and truck pulling. We also have some really big profiles for those engines as well for the heavily modified 5000+ rpm applications. We added a couple of new numbers to our low lift series as well. We are very fortunate to be quite busy now. Most shops are off at least 15-20% and some are much worse. Things have picked up a bit for many shops in the last 2-3 weeks though.
We appreciate your support!!
